Sporting Cristal continues to make changes: Juan José Luque will not continue as sports director

The Sporting Cristal leadership continues to evaluate everything that happened in the 2022 season and, as a result of the balance, some exits are being determined for the next campaign. In this sense, the Rimense institution announced that Juan José Luque will not continue as general sports director by 2023.

The former Spanish soccer player arrived in Florida at the beginning of 2020 and was presented, under great expectation, by Carlos Gonzáles, director of Innova Sports. Immediately, the brand new reinforcement of the ‘Celestes’ began with his work and ended up being key in his first year: he was part of the national title obtained after beating Universitario in the final.

However, after the good start, the next two courses left more doubts than certainties, despite the fact that the Bajo Pontino club was runner-up in 2021 and reached the semifinals in 2022. In the same way, the results in the Copa Libertadores did not They were the best, a situation that has also been vital for the board to begin a massive restructuring.

“Sporting Cristal informs the celestial family and public opinion that we have reached an agreement with Mr. Juan José Luque to end his employment relationship with our institution. We thank him for the services he has provided as general sports director since January 2020 and we wish him the best of success in his future.”indicates the statement from the Rimac squad.

The publication quickly went viral among celestial fans, who hope to have news regarding the person who will assume the important position. Let us remember that Cristal does not have a coach either, after the departure of Roberto Mosquera, and for now only interest in the Brazilian strategist Tiago Nunes is known.
