The last image of the transmission showed Lautaro Martínez, author of the last penalty to seal Argentina’s pass to the semifinals, celebrating on the side of the field and, immediately, his teammates running to join the party. But, there is another detail that the cameras did not show, at least in the first instance: Lionel Messi’s reaction with Emiliano Martínez, another of the protagonists of the day.
When Lautaro sent the ball into the Netherlands nets, the Albiceleste players on the line dividing the pitch broke ranks. The same happened with those located on the substitute bench. Everyone turned to congratulate the Inter Milan man for scoring a key goal to continue in the tournament.
However, several videos of that sublime moment for Argentines circulate on social networks, but from another angle. While everyone was going for ‘Lautoro’, Leo Messi headed towards the other sector of the field, where ‘Dibu’ Martínez was, totally alone and experiencing the dramatic definition apart from his own.

After the striker’s goal, the Aston Villa goalkeeper threw himself face down on the grass and hit the ground with his fists. A celebration in which he released all the tension. Then, the ‘1’ of the selection raised his head and saw how the captain approached to share the joy of having passed the round.
Messi crossed his arm across his teammate’s back and said a few words to him. They both stood up and gave each other a big hug, while smiling. Franco Armani, substitute goalkeeper for the national team, joined the scene. Lionel then went the other way and on the way jumped in front of the grandstand.
‘Dibu’ Martínez has been key in the penalty shootout, as he blocked the intentions of Virgil Van Dijk and Steven Berghuis. While he couldn’t repeat saves with Teun Koopmeiners, Wout Weghorst and Luuk de Jong, a large percentage of the job, from his position, was already done. The only thing missing was Lautaro’s final punch to sentence.
