Cristiano regrets not being able to win a World Cup and Mbappé dedicated a message to him

The Portugal team was eliminated from the Qatar 2022 World Cup in the quarterfinals, after losing 1-0 to Morocco. The game was a heavy blow for Cristiano Ronaldo, who participated in the tournament for the last time and was left without the possibility of reaching the only title that was missing from his successful career.

After the painful defeat, ‘CR7’ published an emotional letter on social networks, in which he thanked the support he always received from the Portuguese fans throughout the five World Cups he played. The post on Instagram generated great interaction and Kylian Mbappé did not hesitate to dedicate a message to his colleague.

‘Kiki’, who has had Cristiano Ronaldo as an idol since childhood, took advantage of the comment box to express a short but significant letter. The French forward used the emojis of a crown, a sign of thanks and -symbolized as a goat- the GOAT (abbreviation of The Greatest of All Time, translated as “the best of all time”).

Mbappé’s response quickly went viral, although he was not the only recognized figure who responded to the Portuguese’s publication. Vinícius Jr., Alejandro Garnacho, LeBron James, Mehdi Benatia, Sami Khedira and Jesse Lingard are some of the people who also dedicated messages to Cristiano.

Let’s remember that ‘CR7’ said goodbye to the Qatar 2022 World Cup with a goal on his record, which he achieved in the 3-2 victory over Ghana, in the group stage debut. That annotation served for the forward to enter the history of the tournament: he is the only one who has scored in five different editions.

Despite the record, Cristiano Ronaldo showed regret for not winning the title, which was “the biggest and most ambitious dream of his career”as detailed in their social networks. “I left everything on the field. I never quit. Unfortunately, that dream ended… I was always one more person fighting for everyone’s goal and I would never turn my back on my teammates and my country”highlighted the captain of Portugal in his moving text.
