Lionel Messi breaks another record in Argentina vs. Croatia

Argentina reached the end of World Cup Qatar 2022 after beating the Croatian team 3-0. In a fantastic match for the South Americans, the captain and seven times Ballon d’Or, Lionel Messi, he took all eyes by scoring a goal and providing an assist; with this, he reaches a total of five scores and three assists in the competition.

Previously, Messi had surpassed Maradona as the Argentine with the most matches played in the World Cups, also leaving Batistuta behind as the team’s top scorer in the tournament.

However, this afternoon, against Croatia, the ’10’ from PSG managed to equalize the German Lotthar Matthaus as the player with the most games played (25) in the World Cup. And, if nothing serious happens, he will overcome it this Friday in the grand final.

Messi arrived at Qatar 2022 with 19 World Cup appearances and 6 goals in total. Figures that he has managed to exceed by far during this edition of the World Cup thanks to the superlative level that he has been showing.
