Chelsea hero Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Kai Havertz is not good enough to manage The Blues.

With the January transfer window in full swing, Chelsea have been linked with many different players in different positions as Graham Potter tries to rebuild his squad.

The Blues are going through a very tough season of transition under Potter and new owner Todd Boehly, with the club currently 10th in the league and 10 points clear of the top 4.

They have managed just one win in their last six games in all competitions and face another tough test on Sunday as they travel to Manchester City for their third round of the FA Cup.

Although they have already strengthened themselves this month with the arrival of central defender Benoit Badiashile and midfielder Andrey Santos, there are many concerns about their striker, especially as they have scored just 20 goals in 17 league games so far.

They have bought young striker David Datro Fofana, although he is not expected to make an immediate impression at Stamford Bridge and although there are reports they could hijack Arsenal’s move to winger Mykhailo Mudryk, it doesn’t seem likely.

All this will worry Hasselbaink, who is unconvinced by the current roster of Chelsea and Havertz forwards and singles out Christian Pulisic for criticism.

“I don’t know Mudryk very well, but apparently he’s a great player,” the former Blues forward told Betway.

“I don’t know how much truth there is in Chelsea wanting to hijack any deal for him, but they need more creativity and a bigger threat going forward.

“Christian Pulisic has been doing his best lately, but Chelsea are not doing enough. Kai Havertz is half the size of last year, so they need more players to make an immediate difference.”

Pulisic’s struggles are well documented and it looks like the US international will be leaving Chelsea soon, but there are many who believe Havertz has the potential to become Potter’s star player.

The 23-year-old has scored just 28 goals and made 15 assists in 115 games since joining Chelsea in 2020 for £72 million.

Havertz’s performances this season have drawn both praise and criticism as the German striker continues to struggle for consistency.
