Mauricio Mesones: “In Peru I am a fan of Alianza and internationally I am also a fan of Alianza”

About this, El Comercio spoke with Mauricio Mesones, the Peruvian singer who has captivated many singing songs like “Cariñito”, “Regresa”, “La Distancia”, “Pagarás”. He promises surprises for today.

—How did you get the opportunity to sing in the “Tarde Blanquiazul”?

For me it is very important and it did take me by surprise. But I think it reflects that we are doing something good as a project. I have been a soloist for 3 years and I have never hidden my love and affection for Alianza Lima, the team that I have followed and loved since I was very young. One of my songs from my last album, I dedicate it to my neighborhood of Alianza Lima. I was very happy that they contacted me, it is not the first time that I have participated. Last year I also sang before the classic. It is beautiful, rewarding and important. I’m very happy.

—It paints to be a great party…

It is part of the entertainment industry. It is important that these types of events take place to realize that Alianza is much bigger than many people thought. The call that you have in the stadiums, the work that has marketing on shirts. Alliance is culture, tradition, religion as is the Lord of Miracles and the Alliance bar is orderly and respectful.

—Is the song you sang to Alianza Lima “Cariñito”?

Yes, it’s a song that was adopted by the Alianza bar with the lyrics of the club, I already knew it for Sunday, which is the “Blue and White Afternoon”. The nice thing is that not only am I going to sing, but I’m going with the whole group. I must admit that Alianza’s marketing team is doing a great job, not only now, but before.

—Of course, for you it is important that the club you are a fan of recognizes your talent and invites you on one of the important dates…

There are many artists who are fans of a team and do not say so, perhaps out of fear or their reasons must have. I chose not to hide my colors at any time. Whenever they have asked me I have answered that I am a fan of Alianza Lima and from outside I answered that you cannot be from two teams. In Peru I am a fan of Alianza and internationally I am also a fan of Alianza.

—What will the fans see in the “Blue and White Afternoon”?

The only thing I can tell the Alianza fan to get ready with “Cariñito” with the lyrics of the Alianza Lima bar, we are going to sing it out loud. The best team in the world needs the best song in the world and it’s “Cariñito” and we’re going to sing it.

—How was your support for Alianza born?

Despite the fact that my dad is a fan of the ‘U’ (laughs), he very respectfully accepted my decision. One changes girlfriend, but never changes teams. I am from the center of Lima, from Jirón Chota block 13, everyone there is from Alianza Lima and from the seventh gang of Señor de Los Milagros.

—Your idols?

I could tell you several, but I am going to tell you the ones that I have seen played. Number one is Waldir Saénz, he has made me cry, suffer, laugh and get emotional. From there, Marco Valencia, Marquinho, Darío Muchotrigo and ‘Gato’ Basombrío drove me crazy. It’s not that I want to detract from the classics, unfortunately I couldn’t see Cueto play in Alianza Lima, I’ve seen the videos of him and I go crazy. I’m talking about the ones I saw on the field.

—The game that you remember the most as a blue and white fan?

I went to that game in which Claudio Pizarro scored the five goals against Unión Minas and that we won with a resounding 7-1. I was poor, I was in the East (Laughter), I was very small to be in the South and very poor to be in the West. I have a lot of affection for Alianza Lima.

—Is there a song that you plan to dedicate to Alianza Lima?

I already have a song prepared, what I’m waiting for is to finish it, but I don’t want to confuse it with all these things we’re doing, because I don’t want it to be seen “You’re there, because you made a song”. I am there because I am a fan of Alianza, they call me and I go.

—Will it be a cumbia in your style?

No, no, I mean, it’s going to be cumbia, it’s going to be cumbia, but it can’t be a slow cumbia, it has to be a lively cumbia. Like everything that represents Alianza, mischief, all those things.

—I imagine that like all fans of Alianza Lima you yearn for the three-time championship and that in the Copa Libertadores the team breaks the losing streak.

I do not long for it, I am sure that this year we celebrate the three-time championship.

—How is the song with Kale called “Tell me, miss”?

Yes, we just released the song with Kale, which is a cumbia version of a classic reggaeton by Kale called “Dígame usted senorita” and the song came out about two weeks ago and has been well received. We have released this along with our next production that will be coming out at the end of April called “Viaje Tropical 2″ and we are finishing recording the album to start the mixing and mastering part. It has 7 songs and is the continuation of the previous album, since the previous album is called “Viaje Tropical”, where there is a collaboration with “Agua Marina” and this new album brings surprises and news.

—Is there any collaboration in “Tropical Trip 2″?

I can’t anticipate the collaboration, but it will follow the line of one of the most important groups in Peru. But what I can tell you is that it’s going to be a collaboration with a very important Peruvian cumbia group.

—Any international tour for this year?

No, I could tell you that we are preparing a tour abroad, but internationalization doesn’t eat my brain. First, because I want as a project to become strong here and little by little we are achieving it with a lot of love and respect for the genre. Everything has its moment and, although it is true, as an artist I am not something new, but the project is new.
