PSG: new police officer charged in leak of confidential information

On Thursday, the police officer was charged with, among other things, “misappropriation of national defense secrets by his custodian” as part of a judicial investigation related to suspicions of leaking confidential information to PSG, a court source said Friday. The police officer has also been charged with “breach of professional secrecy” and “misappropriation of the purpose of processing personal data,” added a source confirming Le Monde’s information. He was placed under judicial supervision.

He is at least the second police officer to be charged in the case, which brought the first three indictments in September, specifically for trading in influence and corruption. The first available police officer, former DCRI member Malik Nait-Liman, a former intelligence police officer hired in 2018 as a supporter’s aide to the PSG, and French-Algerian lobbyist Taieb Benabderrahman were targeted.

They are suspected of transferring confidential information about certain people from police files, in particular to a Parisian football club.

The story of the boxes, mixing suspicions of private espionage, blackmail and allegations of torture, broke out at the time and has since continued to expand, with several protagonists accusing PSG boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi of wanting to destroy incriminating documents related to for Qatar to win the World Cup.

NAC has since filed a defamation suit against Tayeb Benabderrahman, who accuses him and whom he accuses of wanting to reveal personal documents belonging to him, including these exchanges related to the World Cup in Qatar.

The lobbyist, for his part, filed a civil lawsuit in 2022 alleging torture, kidnapping and forced imprisonment, and thus achieved the opening of a judicial investigation at the end of January. According to a source close to the case, on March 30, he was heard by three investigating judges of the Paris court leading the investigation.
