Juan Pablo Varillas rises to 61st place in the ATP, his best ranking as a professional

The spectacular tournament of Roland Garros 2023 by Juan Pablo Varillas, where he reached the fourth round, has released the best classification of the Peruvian tennis player so far in his career, ranking 61st in the ranking of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP ).

With this fact, Varillas rose 33 positions in the ATP ranking. This is due to his latest victories in the Grand Slam held in Paris, since they allowed him to add 90 points that catapulted him into the World Top 70 by adding 806 units.

And it is that with this position in the ranking, Juan Pablo Varillas will have the opportunity to continue playing the most important tournaments of the world tennis elite and rub shoulders with the best of the white sport.

On the other hand, the list will be led by the Serbian Novak Djokovic who recovers the number 1 that was in the hands of the Spanish Alcaraz. This after winning Roland Garros last Sunday and entered the men’s tennis record books by being the first player to add 23 Grand Slams and somehow crowned that feat with his return to number one in the world ranking.

Also, this week’s ATP ranking is very significant because the winner in Paris last year, Rafael Nadal, also a Spaniard, absent from the circuit due to injury since the Australian Open, falls in the ranking to number 136 in the world. An unusual fact for the first time in 20 years, since since April 2003, in which he has been left out of the top 100 positions.

Finally, Djokovic gains two positions after his triumph in Paris and adds 7,595 points in the ranking, to 7,175 for Alcaraz, whom the player from Belgrade eliminated in the semifinals, in a match that the Murcian finished with great difficulty, victim of cramps.
