Callao Anniversary: ​​celebrations began successfully with the Corre Chalaco 5K

The date to celebrate the 187th anniversary of Callao is approaching and the festivities began with a lot of sport. Last Sunday the Corre Chalaco 5K was held with more than two thousand participants.

This running competition seeks to mark a tradition in Callao, since in its second edition it almost tripled the number of participants in the race.

The starting point was at the Abtao Museum, next to Plaza Grau, and toured the most representative streets of the First Port, such as Jorge Chávez, Estados Unidos, Miguel Grau, Francisco Pizarro, Sáenz Peña and Adolfo King.

People between the ages of 18 and 39 competed in the senior category and senior citizens in the masters, as well as participants with visual and physical disabilities.

In the senior category, Bruno Chuquista and Rosalía Sempertegui won, while Miguel Díaz and Ángela Allende did in the masters. Hugo Estrada and Esther Paredes won in visual disability and César Ojeda and Rebeca Peralta in physical disability.

The Corre Chalaco 5k race is organized by the Regional Government of Callao, through its Sports and Recreation Office and sports personalities such as Flavio Maestri, Gina Torrealva, Rosa García and Jessenia Uceda were present at the event.
