Miguel Almirón defends the local team in Ciudad del Este: “We are very happy to play there”

The fast Paraguayan attacker Miguel Almironwho plays for Newcastle in the Premier League, stressed that his national team uses the Antonio Aranda Encina stadium, in Ciudad del Este, for the start of the Qualifiers for the World Cup 2026.

“Playing in Ciudad del Este or playing for Defensores or Nueva Olla, I think that for us we already have the motivation to wear the national team’s jersey, to face these games,” said the Albirroja striker.

“In the places that I had to play, the people always supported us, they were always there encouraging us and this time is not going to be the exception,” he added.

On the other hand, he remarked that they have already played at home in this venue and that they are “very happy to play there or to play anywhere”.

He also referred to the present of the Paraguayan team for this start of the Qualifiers against the Peruvian team.

“It is an immense joy to be here as always, most of our teammates are caught at a good time and we are surely going to give our best. Trying to start in the best way is the main objective, ”she pointed out.
