Sporting Cristal was the best institution at the minor level in Peru in 2023, and won the Promotion and Reserves Tournament that grants the place to the Copa Libertadores Sub 20.
This Tuesday, February 13, the draw for the aforementioned competition was held and it was determined that the Rímac light blues will play in Group C, along with Flamengo from Brazil, Defensor Sporting from Uruguay and Aucas from Ecuador.
The light blue will be the only Peruvian representative in the tournament that will be held in Uruguay from March 2 to 17.
Boca Juniors is the current champion, after beating Independiente del Valle 2-1 in Chile.
As recalled, Peru already had a champion in the category. Universitario won the title in 2011, when the tournament was played in Lima.
