The former coach of Sporting Cristal, the Brazilian Tiago Nunesreferred to the difficulty that exists in South American football and even mentioned an established colleague, the Spanish Pep Guardiola.
The now technical director of the Catholic University of Chile, in dialogue with ESPN, cited an example of a tough home due to the Peruvian altitude and another due to the atmosphere that exists in a mythical Argentine stadium.
“I like to watch the tournaments that are closer to me. I would love to see Guardiola playing a Copa Libertadores against Bolívar in La Paz, Binacional in Peru at 4 thousand meters in Juliaca, or against Boca in Bombonera,” stated Nunes.
As recalled, during the 2023 season he led Cristal in the Copa Libertadores where they reached the group stage, after overcoming two rounds.
And then, after finishing third in his series, he played in the Copa Sudamericana where he was eliminated by Emelec.
In the local tournament he came in third place, very close to reaching the national final, and at the end of the tournament he decided to leave the Bajopontine institution.
