Soccer clubs have a lot of impact on society and Universitario is constantly involved in inclusion and development campaigns. The institution of Ate is once again the protagonist in that sense, this time when it is known that it will create a futsal team for Down syndrome.

Colectivo Down Perú, a non-profit organization, which is made up of relatives of people with Down syndrome, was in charge of revealing the news through its official channels, causing a pleasant impression on the ‘Cremas’ fans. The statement states the following:

With great pride we announce that Universitario de Deportes is consecrated as the first sports club in Peru to have a Futsal team for Down Syndrome.

These actions are extremely important for our country to continue taking steps towards the full inclusion of people with disabilities in society. It is necessary that all of us have guaranteed access to spaces, in different areas and categories. Welcome to the new times of inclusion and development!”.

In this way, Universitario will promote sport for people with Down syndrome and it will also be of vital importance for the Third Futsal Down World Cup – Lima 2022. Let us remember that the Peruvian capital will host this event, which will take place April 1 to 10 of next year.

The Down Peru Collective, which is also a member of the International Football Federation of Athletes with Down Syndrome (FIFDS), celebrated the support of the ‘U’ for inclusion and surely hopes that other clubs can also join the cause .
