The Premier League has prepared a party to host in a big way in 2022: four games scheduled for January 1. However, this Thursday, the English championship organization announced that, as has happened in recent weeks, one of the aforementioned matches was postponed due to the coronavirus.
The clash between Leicester and Norwich, corresponding to day 21 of the competition, was postponed due to the effects of the wave of COVID-19 that the United Kingdom suffers. The clash was scheduled to take place at the King Power stadium, the home of the ‘Foxes’.
“The steering committee took into account Norwich’s request, which did not have the required number of players for this match, that is, thirteen outfield players and one goalkeeper, due to COVID-19 cases and injuries”, explained the Premier League through a note posted on the official website.
Norwich, bottom of the English championship, indicated for their part that this decision came after the results of the PCR test in their squad: “Those who tested positive were left in isolation”, said the club without indicating the number of affected.
This is the 17th Premier League match postponed since December 9. Among them, three of the nine that were scheduled on the traditional Boxing Day on December 26.
