The transportation system has its origins in China. According to the El Español Omicrono page, the Chinese Railway Corporation (CRRC) has been designing and manufacturing these vehicles for years. In 2017 the first system was installed and today it is used in cities such as Shanghai, Zhuzhou or Yibin.

They are normally designed for up to five cars, with a capacity of about 70 passengers per car. As it has an electric battery, it does not need cables and sensors such as LiDAR, radar or GPS give it driving autonomy.

This form of vehicle is known as Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) and will be tested outside of China until November so that users can give feedback. However, even though it does not require a driver, the authorities have arranged for personnel to guide and supervise the operation for safety reasons.

Unlike the Chinese version, the tram is a second generation called Digital Rapid Transit (DRT), and runs on a hydrogen fuel cell instead of a battery, allowing longer journeys without needing to be recharged along the way. of the tour.
