Neuralink patient plays chess with his mind thanks to brain implant | VIDEO

Neuralinka company led by Elon Muskrevealed a video last Wednesday showing its first human patient playing chess through direct manipulation of the mind on a computer, thanks to a brain implant.

The company, founded in 2017, initially experimented with brain implants in animals, achieving milestones such as controlling a macaque’s movements using the mind.

In January 2024, Musk introduced Telepathy, a Neuralink device for people with limited mobility, allowing them to control electronic devices with their mind.

The protagonist of the video, Noland Arbaugh, 29, paralyzed from the shoulders after an accident, expressed his amazement at controlling a computer with his brain, mentioning his experience playing chess and “Civilization,” and taking language classes.

Arbaugh, alluding to “telepathy” thanks to Neuralink, noted that the implant has changed his life, emphasizing that it is only the beginning of his journey.

Neuralink, through a video shared on various platforms, promised to continue reporting on patient progress, underscoring the impact of its technology.

The Neuralink device, the size of five stacked coins, is implanted in the human brain through invasive surgery, revealing the innovative and promising nature of this neurotechnology.
