Extremely powerful machine. asus has arrived in our country with its new laptop model for gaming and content creation, the ROG Zephyrus G16which combines everything: performance, graphics, design, lighting, audio, although with some details that keep it from perfection.

It was launched a little less than a month ago in Peru and during that time we have been able to test it in different games and situations to learn more about its performance.

But first it is important to know the technical specifications of this new device.

The first impression is that it is an easy-to-carry laptop, despite the fact that it is one of the most technologically advanced proposals from the Asian company. And it is a fairly light, thin device that has an elegant design down to the color and material: gray with a metallic finish.

From unpacking you can see that the screen occupies almost the entire panel, with just a slight edge. This is important because we can make the most of its 16″ and not lose any details of the games or editing work being done. The curious detail is the diagonal bar lighting on the back of the screen.

Of course, the device comes with its own illuminated gaming mouse that requires a USB connection. This makes work much easier, although the device’s touch panel is quite large and easy to use.

Another important detail, beyond the design, is the internal technology. This gaming laptop boasts of having the most powerful technology. But not only because it has a good-performance processor such as the Intel Core 9Ultra, but the company also points out that it has integrated AI accelerators to take advantage of the latest technologies. This definitely becomes more important as we enter the future with artificial intelligence (AI).

And beyond its capacity for graphics, with the use of Windows 11 you can already see the use of Copilot, the AI ​​developed by Microsoft, in the operating system.

The experience at play

During these days the equipment has been tested with some games of different performance. And your NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4070 graphics card deserves to be explored to the fullest.

One of the games used was the classic Asphalt 9 Legens, a game that has been released for a few years but is still a benchmark in image and sound. And it is this last section in which we can get more juice from the speaker system with double strength woofer.

Another game was Resident Level 3, a game developed by Capcom and available on Xbox since 2024, so it is interesting to test its image. And yes, the ROG Zephyrus G16 comes out very well when working on the graphics.

The screen has a wide variety of colors, even when it comes to displaying dark images (which Capcom’s game is known for). There is no delay during the development of the levels, and the audio allows for a surround and immersive feeling.

Finally, another tested game is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey developed by Ubisoft Quebec, released in 2022, and which is quite reminiscent of the movie 300, at least in the first part of the game. The dynamics go very well with the ROG Zephyrus G16, but where the difference is noticeable is in the development of the game. Thanks to the graphics card you can enjoy the details and textures, in addition to the incredible landscapes that have been designed.

But is such wonder real? There is nothing in this life that can be completely perfect, and the ROG Zephyrus G16 is no exception to this kind of standard.

In the time of trial there are some aspects that have not gone unnoticed. In any of the aforementioned games, the battery life has been much shorter than expected, ranging between one to two hours with maximum use of sound and screen display. The specifications indicate that it has a 90WHrs, 4S1P, 4-cell Li-ion battery, although what should be highlighted is its quick recharge.

Another important detail to take into account is refrigeration. While it is true that those who are dedicated to gaming know that gaming technology is hot, asus It tells us that it has ROG Intelligent Cooling, which is made up of a vapor chamber, liquid metal, improved heat pipes and 2nd generation Arc Flow™ fans, to keep the machine cool.

Even so, it does not escape the heat. The temperature may be ideal for daily work, usual performance, but when playing games, this equipment reaches a high temperature, and after a period of use it begins to bother the touch due to the heat. Furthermore, when that happens, the fans increase their work and the sound does not go unnoticed: it is a fairly loud noise, and if you are not used to it you might think it is going to explode (but don’t worry, that’s not going to happen).

In conclusion, it is a great machine with an important step in the use of artificial intelligence and video games, which brings together cutting-edge technology. In addition, it is quite compact and elegant, compared to other bulky devices. Even so, faced with the high temperature situation, there are regulation options that can be adapted to take advantage of the time of use, such as having other gadgets.
