The iPod prototype was the size of a MacBook

The prototype of the original iPod, a musical device created by Apple Two decades ago, it was the same size as a current MacBook laptop, yellow in color, with a tiny screen.

This is detailed by Panic, which has celebrated the twentieth anniversary of this product of the technology company, which Steve Jobs presented in October 2001, with unpublished images of this device, a prototype that was never commercialized.

In them, an unrecognizable device of large size and rectangular shape appears with a small screen in the upper right part. Also has four buttons vertically on the right for the control of the prototype.

At the top left you have a wheel to control the player, which shows a very rudimentary aspect with respect to the mechanical ‘click wheel’ of the later models (Classic, Mini, Nano or Shuffle).

Judging by samples, the first iPod prototype is at least four times the size of the company’s model officially launched in late October 2001, the iPod Classic 1st Generation. This format was withdrawn from the market in 2014.

As published by Panic, this design includes the engraving of the date of manufacture, which dates back to September 2001, that is, almost two months before commissioning. first music player on sale Apple laptop.

The large size of this prototype comparable to a 13-inch MacBook does not now correspond to the internal circuitry, since there is a lot of free space and wiring is concentrated at the top, where is the screen.
