The US warns that the bombing near Poland is an expansion of Russian objectives in Ukraine

The Department of Defense United States said this Sunday that the latest Russian attack in Ukraine against a base just 20 kilometers from the Polish border is a sign of the expansion of Russian military objectives in the war.

“Clearly, from an airstrikes perspective, the Russians are expanding their military objectives.”Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said in an interview on ABC television.

Kirby recalled that last morning’s attack is the third attack in recent days by Russia against military installations in western Ukraine, which leads US intelligence to contextualize them in a new stage of Russian strategy.

The spokesman also indicated that, in his opinion, the no-fly zone requested by Ukraine would not have been the way to prevent the attack, since it would have led to a direct confrontation between two nuclear powers such as Russia and the US.

As US Vice President Kamala Harris did yesterday, Kirby reiterated her country’s commitment to NATO partners and assured that if one of its members is attacked (for example, Poland), all the others will come to your help.

Russian troops have launched this morning more than 30 missiles against a base just 20 kilometers from the Polish border, which has caused at least 35 deaths, in an escalation of the war that brings it closer to the territory of the Union for the first time Union (EU) since the invasion began three weeks ago.

Lviv is one of the most relatively safe cities in Ukraine as it is located far from the battlefront and this is the first time that Moscow has attacked the outskirts of the city, which is a transit point for Ukrainian refugees seeking to flee to Poland.

But for two days the anti-aircraft alarms have sounded at dawn so that the inhabitants go to the nearest shelter and today the bombing, which has taken place 50 kilometers west of Lviv, has shaken the historic city, according to Efe, as a result of the action of the anti-aircraft defense system, according to the authorities of the region.
