The man drives a silver Honda vehicle, and according to local police, he comes from the area, although they did not clarify if the young man is from Highland Park or a nearby town.

“We have a large number of federal, state and local agents working to apprehend this person,” one of the local police officials said during a press conference.

Authorities asked residents within four blocks of the shooting zone to stay hidden until they can be evacuated by security forces.

The agents assured that they will soon reveal a photo of the suspect and asked people not to try to approach him if they locate him, but to directly call the Emergency Department.

Police officials did not offer any information about a possible motive for the shooting.

On the morning of this Monday, a young man opened fire from a nearby rooftop on the crowd gathered to enjoy a parade for the 4th of July in the town of Highland Park, near Chicago (Illinois), killing six people and injuring at least 24 others.
