putin He was already sure that the Qatar World Cup he would be successful in meeting in mid-October with Al Thani in the Kazakh capital, Astana.

In addition to being “proud” of his relationship with the Kremlin, the emir denounced last month that since his country was chosen to host the World Cup, he has been “subjected” to “an unprecedented campaign (against) to which no host country has faced each other” in history.

For years and especially in recent days, less than a month before the start of the World Cup, numerous international organizations have recalled Qatar’s record of labor abuses during the construction of stadiums, as well as the repression against the LGTBI community, documented by NGOs such as Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch.

QatarHowever, he has said on many occasions that these accusations are “categorically false.”

This is the second time that the tournament has been held on the Asian continent, after the 2002 edition, held in South Korea and Japan. In addition, it is the first time that it is played in the Middle East, in an Arab country.

Russia, venue of the previous World Cup, was excluded from the play-offs due to the sanctions imposed on the country by FIFA due to its “special military operation” in Ukraine.
