Mexico postpones Pacific Alliance summit due to “events” in Peru

The Mexican Foreign Minister, Marcelo Ebrard, announced this Wednesday the postponement of the Summit of the Pacific alliance scheduled for next Wednesday in Lima, due to “the latest events” in Peru, in reference to the dismissal of President Pedro Castillo, approved by a large majority by Congress, after having dictated its dissolution.

This was indicated by Ebrard in a tweet in which he avoids assessing what happened in Peru, despite the fact that Castillo’s decision was mostly considered a coup d’état.

“Given the latest events in Peru, it has been agreed to postpone the Summit of the Pacific Alliance that would take place on December 14 in the City of Lima. I will keep you informed,” said the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, a country that was to hand over the temporary presidency of the trade bloc to Peru.
