a woman of the United Kingdom she went to the doctor for a sore throat thinking she would be diagnosed with a cold; however, she ended up finding out that she had cancer.

Lisa Gooddy51 years old, grew up with chronic sore throatsso suffering from this discomfort from time to time was normal.

Everything changed when, in 2019, he saw a white spot appear on his tonsil. Upon being seen, they told him that it was calculations.

“There was a white spot on my tonsil and I have had tonsil stones in the past but unfortunately they did not refer me at that time as they thought they were tonsil stones”said gooddy in conversation with Kennedy News, according to the New York Post.

A year later, the woman noticed that her voice had lost strength and was seen by a specialist, who detected her stage 2 tonsil cancer.

“We had meetings and I couldn’t actually go to some of them one day. I felt absolutely exhausted and thought: ‘I can’t talk to anyone’”, remembered. “This must have been the effect of the cancer on my vocal cords.

The main indication of this disease was his enlarged lymph nodes. “I said, ‘Is it cancer?’ and he said ‘yes,’” the woman said during her visit to the doctor. “So he knew right away.”

“I would like to say that I am quite an optimistic person, although nobody wants to hear those words. But I think I had problems for so long, it wasn’t a surprise because I knew something was wrong.”Gooddy added.

He suffered the “destruction” of his salivary glands

As part of cancer treatment, women underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapywhich caused inflammation in the skin of his neck.

As a consequence of the treatment, he suffered the “destruction” of his salivary glands, which caused him dry mouth, problems speaking and also eating.

“One of the known, really horrible side effects of the treatment is that you don’t have salivary glands and you have a constant dry mouth. Having a dry mouth all the time is really horrible. Affects speech, ability to eat, speak. I can’t lick an envelope,” she stated.

His treatment began in February 2021 and in June of this year he achieved remission of the disease. Since then, she has dedicated herself to raising awareness about the health of the mouth, tongue and throat.

“Check your mouth: It’s a cancer people don’t seem to know about, and it takes two minutes to check your mouth, throat and neck for changes,” he warned. “And if there are areas that are sore or look different, go see your GP and dentist, and if they don’t think it’s anything but you’re still not happy, ask for a referral, don’t be discouraged.”.
