Lavrov says that the goal of the US and NATO is to destroy Russia

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrovstated that the objective of USA and the NATO in Ukraine is to defeat Russia on the battlefield in order to weaken or even destroy it, in an interview published on Tuesday by the official TASS news agency.

“It is no secret to anyone that the goal of the US and its NATO allies is victory over Russia on the battlefield as a mechanism to significantly weaken or even destroy our country,” said the head of Russian diplomacy.

He added that to achieve this goal Russia’s opponents “are ready to do a lot.”

Lavrov noted that the actions of the “collective West” and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, “who is under his control, confirm the global character of the Ukrainian crisis.”

In his opinion, the main beneficiary of the conflict is the US, which is trying to get the most out of it both economically and strategically-militarily.

“At the same time, Washington is fulfilling an important geopolitical task: disrupting the traditional ties between Russia and Europe and subjecting its European satellites to even greater subservience,” he said.

The Russian minister indicated that Moscow is open to discussing “security issues both in the context of Ukraine and in a broader, strategic level.”

“We will wait for them to ‘mature’ in Washington until they become aware of the decadence of their current policy and that there is no alternative to relations with us that are not based on mutual respect, on an equal footing, and that do not take into consideration the interests legitimate in Russia,” he stressed.
