UK: Couple won the lottery and their first purchase was ‘nonsense’

A couple in the United Kingdom gained fame in Europe after winning a huge lottery prize.

Is about Lee and Helen Kuchczynski, two citizens residing in Cumbria, in the north of England, aged 52 and 58 respectively, who won a EuroMillions jackpota lottery that is played in different European countries, which awards large economic prizes to the lucky people who guess the number series.

The marriage, thanks to the series 14, 18, 24, 25 and 50, plus a lucky star, managed to take a total of 3.6 million pounds sterling (more than 21 billion Colombian pesos).

Hearing the news of winning said loot, Lee, who worked as a truck driver and is a veteran of the British Royal Army, decided to quit his job that same dayas his wife told the British newspaper ‘Daily Mail’.

“He was discharged from the Army in 1995 and has been driving trucks ever since. It’s hard work, long hours, and his health isn’t the best, so when I shared our amazing news, his first words were, ‘Does that mean I can come home and stop working and retire?’ When he understood that yes, it was possible, he did his last job that same afternoon and handed over the keys to his truck for the last time.

Helen, for her part, confessed that, despite having earned all that money, she decided not to quit her job as a financial administrator “just for now”, but added that she asked that her working hours be reduced.

The large prize, without a doubt, allowed the couple to have a greater investment margin and afford to acquire certain luxuries. However, the first purchases they made with said prize were considered ‘trivial’ or ‘insane’.

I bought a new back scratcher because I broke the other one at workso I bought an expensive one that cost 17 pounds (about 100,000 pesos) instead of the one I had, which cost eight pounds,” Lee confessed to the same newspaper.

My first purchase as a millionaire was two bags of cat litter.while Lee invested in a new back scratcher, I’m not sure if that’s living the high life!” Helen added.

Despite this, the couple also admitted that they bought what they considered the house of their dreams. “It has wonderful electric doors,” said Mrs. Kuchczynski.

Likewise, they acquired an Audi RS4 Avant car, cleared their debts and, finally, Lee was able to pay for a hernia surgery that afflicted him for much of his driving career.
