Outside, the women had canvases with photographs of the women who had disappeared in the city. They wore purple clothes and on their shirts, they had the message written: “Not one more.”

“I want this not to happen again, several families are missing a daughter, a sister, a niece who did not return home. The remains of my daughter were found in the Navajo creek.”declared to EFE Norma Laguna, mother of the disappeared young woman.

Yadira Cortés, from the Red Mesa de Mujeres collective, told EFE that the violence in the city, in the northern state of Chihuahua, continues and “women continue to be vulnerable.”

“If you are a woman, there is a higher chance of being murdered in this city”he emphasized.

Among the main demands of the women’s groups were: the appointment of the head of the Executive Commission for Attention to Victims of the State of Chihuahua and designate the person in charge of the State Search Commission.

Likewise, that the authorities make known who will be responsible at the state level for the Justice Centers for Women and the pending appointment of the head of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for attention to Women Victims in the North zone.

The young Idaly disappeared on February 23, 2010 in the center of the border city of Ciudad Juárez. More than two years later, the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office informed her family that she had been found and they were given the alleged remains of the young woman found 94 kilometers from the municipal seat.

According to data from the aforementioned Red Mesa de Mujeres, there are between 500 and 600 investigation folders in the city, for cases of intra-family violence on a monthly basis, with women being affected by this situation in the north of the country.

In 2021, 171 intentional homicides against women were registered; while, during 2022, there were 133. That is, 22.2% less. However, it stands out that the latter presented themselves with extreme violence.

According to data from the State Attorney General’s Office, in 2022, 6,900 investigation folders for family violence were opened; while for sexual abuse and rape, 1,400 folders were opened; plus other crimes against women of which 500 investigation folders were opened.
