War in Ukraine: Pentagon investigates leaks of confidential documents

The Pentagon is trying to identify the source of leaked classified documents detailing US and NATO strategy to support Ukraine in the face of a Russian invasion that were posted this week on social media, The New York Times reported on Thursday.

During interrogation at the Pentagon, they said they were investigating this issue. “We are aware of press reports about social media reports and the department is looking into the matter,” Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said.

The timing of the delivery of weapons or training of soldiers

These documents, dated early March, according to an American newspaper, are reminiscent of, for example, the speed with which Ukrainian forces are using critical munitions from Khimar mobile rocket launchers, or the schedule for weapons deliveries or training given by the West to soldiers in Kiev.

The documents posted on Twitter and Telegram appear to be genuine, according to experts quoted by the New York newspaper, but some of them have been altered to present the situation in Russia in a more favorable light, in part by minimizing the extent of their losses.

According to these leaks, 12 Ukrainian brigades are being formed, including nine trained and equipped by the United States, the New York Times notes.
