Bolivia: Teachers crucify themselves demanding to be heard on Labor Day

A dozen urban teachers crucified themselves and three walled themselves up this Monday in rejection of the contents of the curriculum that they consider to be “ideologized”, but also in protest because in his opinion this International work dayThere is nothing to celebrate” in bolivian.

The Confederation of Urban Education Workers of bolivian decided to take more drastic measures in its ninth week of protest and determined that a dozen teachers crucify themselves in the so-called “Casona” in Peace where a hunger strike is being carried out that is already in its seventh day.

The teachers also made their way through the center of La Paz displaying posters demanding more work items for that sector, an increase in the budget for education, covering the historical deficit of unpaid hours and the rejection of the curriculum.

Some of the teachers were wearing masks, signs, and a coffin with a sign that read “rip education”.

The national executive of urban teachers, Wilfredo Ajllahuancastated that they do not know the leader of the Bolivian Central Obrera, Juan Carlos Huarachisince heshould be next to the workers” and not from the government.

Urban teachers reject the new educational content, considering that it is “ideologized” because it promotes “gender ideology” and the political vision of the ruler movement to socialism (FURTHER).

They also question the creation of new subjects such as robotics or chess, which do not have a separate course load, nor do they have resources or teachers trained to teach these subjects.
