Shooting at a Texas mall leaves several dead and at least 9 injured

A shooting occurred this Saturday in a shopping center on the outskirts of the US city of Dallas, state of Texasleft fatalities and at least nine people taken to nearby hospitals, authorities reported.

“Heard gunshots, approached gunshots, confronted suspect, and neutralized suspect,” Harvey said. “He also called ambulances.”

Harvey confirmed that there were fatalities, but declined to give an exact number, noting that “We don’t have an exact count.”

The fire chief of AllenJonathan Boyd, noted that his department “transported nine victims to area trauma centers.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the mass shooting an “unspeakable tragedy.”

Authorities initially thought there might be a second shooter in Allen Premium Outletsa sprawling shopping complex in the city of Allen, 40 kilometers north of Dallas, according to CNN.

The police combed the shops in the mall, while Shoppers and store employees could be seen in photos and videos running into the parking lots.

Harvey later said police believe the shooter, who has yet to be identified and was reported by CNN to have been wearing tactical gear, “acted alone.”

A father who arrived at the mall after his daughter, who was inside, called him on the phone to inform him of the shooting, he also told CNN that police had informed him there might have been a second shooter.
