The civil lawsuit filed demands the removal of the buoys considering that Texas violates the Law of rivers and ports of 1899 for having installed them without authorization from the Government of the Democrat Joe Biden.

This floating barrier poses a threat to navigation and public safety, as well as posing humanitarian risks. In addition, it has provoked the diplomatic protest of Mexicoputting at risk the foreign policy of USAthe deputy attorney general said in a statement. Vanita Gupta.

The Department of Justice of the Biden Government had threatened last week to sue the state, but the Texas governor responded this Monday that he refused to remove the buoys.

In a letter sent to Biden, Abbott accused him of inaction regarding the arrival of migrants at the country’s southern border and stated that “Texas will fully use its constitutional authority to deal withwith this crisis.

The Texan governor ordered at the beginning of the month the installation of the buoy barrier, in addition to a wire fence to prevent the crossing of migrants from Mexico.

This barrier has provoked the rejection of pro-immigrant and environmental groups, as well as the Government of Mexico, which sent a diplomatic note to the United States warning that the barrier violates the Water Treaty between both countries.

The Biden Administration also claims that border crossings have fallen to their lowest levels in the last two years since the new border restrictions policy began to be applied in May, which replaced the so-called Title 42the health regulation that allowed migrants to be expelled due to the coronavirus pandemic covid-19.
