A babysitter reported that her boss recorded her naked with a hidden camera

Kelly Andrade is a 25-year-old Colombian citizen who had been working for three weeks as a nanny in a family’s home U.S when she discovered something that scared her. The father of the four children she cared for had installed a hidden camera in her room, with which he recorded her all the time, even in situations where she was naked, or while changing.

The incident occurred in the district of State Island, on New York, USA, where the girl had entered to work at the home of Michael Esposito, a businessman who owns three locations for an American fast food franchise. To do her job as a babysitter, she had been trained in Colombia in a program called Au Pair Culture.

According to the complaint made, Esposito had hidden the camera with which he recorded it in a smoke detector. She began to suspect that there was something strange about that object, because the homeowner frequently entered her room to manipulate it.

Moved by curiosity, one day Andrade He decided to explore the fire fighting device and was unpleasantly surprised that a camera was hidden there. Still shocked by the finding, the young woman took the memory card out of the camera and discovered that it had hundreds of shots of her naked, or putting on or taking off her clothes.

According to what appears in the Brooklyn Federal Court, and what Andrade told the American media New York Post, she lived another moment of despair after discovering that they were secretly recording her. The babysitter tried to pretend to be asleep to avoid it, but he slammed the door of her room, and was about to throw it.

Then, Andrade made the decision to flee the house through the window. He jumped off the first floor and hurt his knee. Injured and without knowing the neighborhood, she managed to find a police station, report her boss, and hand over the memory card.

All this happened in March, and on the 24th of that month, Esposito He was arrested on charges of a felony of illegal surveillance, but was released shortly thereafter on his own responsibility. According to his lawyer, the camera in the Andrade it was part of all the others installed in the house for security reasons. The lawyer assured that his client did not commit any crime because it was neither the house nor the bedroom of the young woman, nor was it a public dressing room.

For its part, Andrade is sued Esposito and Cultural Care (according to her, the organization did not assist her) for non-specific damages, alleging discrimination and having had to live a hostile work environment. He also described the behavior of the homeowner as “extreme and outrageous.”
