Biden offers aid to Morocco after devastating earthquake that left at least 1,037 dead

The president of USA, Joe Bidenoffered this Saturday help to Morocco after the devastating magnitude 7 earthquake that has left, so far, 820 dead and 672 injured, according to the latest official count.

The American president, who is in New Delhi to participate in the summit of G20said in a statement that it is “deeply saddened” by the loss of life and devastation caused by the earthquake in Morocco.

In that statement, Biden indicated that his Government is in contact with Moroccan officials and is working “quickly” to ensure the safety of American citizens in Morocco.

Furthermore, the president stated that USA is willing to provide “any necessary assistance to the Moroccan people.”

He also expressed his support for Morocco and his “friend”, the king of Morocco Mohamed VI.

The earthquake in that country has left at least 632 dead and 329 injured, of which 51 are in serious condition, according to the latest data released this Saturday by the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior.

The earthquake, of magnitude 7, occurred at 11:11 p.m. local time (00:11 GMT on Saturday) and shook the region of Marrakeshin the south of Morocco.
