Hamas attack on Israel: Enrico Macias calls for “physical” destruction of LFI, case heard by court

A statement that caused a lot of ink to spill. On the evening of Tuesday, October 10, invited to the set of the show L’Heure des Pros 2 on the CNews channel, French singer of Algerian Jewish origin Enrico Macias expressed his opinion on the position of the far left regarding Hamas attacks.

While Pascal Proud’s guests returned to and condemned the terrible massacres of the kibbutz, where entire families and babies were killed in their homes, Enrico Macias criticized La France Insoumise. “When I hear the far left crumble in the face of this horror, you force me to say what I didn’t want to say: we must destroy them. Of course, politically, but perhaps even physically,” he said.

While the singer immediately admits that he was exaggerating when he made such statements, this call for violence shocked presenter Pascal Proud: “Let’s not say that. I give up this phrase that you didn’t think of. We cannot agree to such an injunction,” he replied, before reminding that “Insoumise France is not responsible for the crimes,” to which Enrico Macias responded that they were “accomplices.”

“Call for Murder”

Let us recall that although almost all French political parties and almost the entire international community condemned these Hamas attacks on the Israeli people, Insoumis chose to emphasize that “the armed offensive of Palestinian forces carried out by Hamas takes place in the context of intensifying Israeli occupation policies in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and in East Jerusalem. Since then, La France insoumise has watered down its wine by talking about “war crimes” without ever labeling Hamas a terrorist organization.

Following these comments, LFI MP for Seine-Saint-Denis Thomas Portes denounced on X (formerly Twitter) the “call for murder” and announced that he had contacted Arcom and the prosecutor. “These comments (…) endanger the lives of some members of La France insoumise,” the railway worker assures in his letter addressed to the Paris prosecutor. La France insoumise digital campaigns director Bastien Parisot said on X that “if a rebel activist is attacked or threatened in the coming days, Enrico Macias will be directly responsible.” »

“By repeating lies on LFI from morning to evening, the people we love end up believing them and calling for murder. I don’t recognize Enrico Macias in this statement,” Jean-Luc Mélenchon said on X.

Invited to a Franceinfo meeting this Wednesday morning, Manuel Bompard denounced “the media machine that is created to try to disqualify the positions of La France insoumise”, before declaring that it is not the position of the LFI that puts them in danger, but “interpretations and slander”, which “the political class, our political opponents” are trying to spread.
