“I survived the Holocaust”: the first words of Mia Shem, a former hostage of the French-Israeli Hamas

This is the first time she has given a speech since her release. Mia Shem, a former French-Israeli Hamas hostage released on November 30 after 55 days of captivity in the Gaza Strip, gave an interview to the Israeli television channel Channel 13. It was scheduled to be broadcast only on Friday evening at 20:00 local time (19:00 Paris time). ), but the media broadcast the excerpt on social networks this Thursday.

For the first time, we hear a journalist question the 21-year-old about her reasons for speaking publicly, almost a month after her return to Israel. “It was important for me to tell the truth about the people who live in Gaza, who they really are and what I experienced there,” Mia Shem responds. “I’m a Holocaust survivor,” she adds, weighing her words.

This French-Israeli woman, abducted during the Nova Tribe festival on October 7, also claims she was detained by her family. She claims that all members, including children, were involved in the terrorist organization Hamas. “Everyone there is a terrorist,” she insists.

The effects of his abduction are still visible.

In this excerpt from the interview, we see a bandage on his right hand. Mia Shem was seriously injured during the abduction and had to undergo surgery in the Gaza Strip. On October 16, she appeared in a Hamas propaganda video with her arm in a bandage. “I’m in Gaza, I was treated, the operation lasted three hours and everything is fine,” she said. She later said that she was operated on by a veterinarian.

Mia Shem has already declared her resilience in the face of the deadly attacks carried out by the Palestinian terrorist movement. A few days after returning to her loved ones in Israel, the girl published a photo on her Instagram account in which she has a new tattoo: “We will dance again. ” In the caption she wrote: “I will never forget. Pain and fear, terrible visions, friends who will not return and those we have yet to return. But we still have to win. » According to the Israeli army, 129 of the approximately 240 hostages kidnapped on October 7 are still in the Palestinian enclave.
