A POW trapped in Russian trenches thought this was the end when he was dragged into enemy territory – until a drone came to rescue him.

Images shared by Volodymyr Zelensky’s air assault forces show the soldier’s incredible rescue.

In a video posted to Telegram on Tuesday, he is seen in a shelter with his legs and arms wrapped in ropes.

Ukraine’s 95th Brigade had deployed three drone crews to support neighboring units during the Russian storm.

As one of the responders approached the area, he saw the captured soldier and began shining his lights on him to get his attention.

The army said it was a miracle he survived at all, as Ukrainian forces had only just bombed the trenches.

Once the POW realized the drone belonged to Ukraine, he began following it as he led it to safety.

“The paratroopers were operating in an enemy-controlled area,” said a statement from the 95th Brigade.

“Many invaders were successfully eliminated.” While the Russians were being destroyed, they saw a Ukrainian soldier tied up in the trench. It was a fighter plane from another brigade.

“Our drone operator, call sign Kevin, attracted the occupant’s attention by flashing lights on the Mavic drone.

“The man on the ground got his bearings, realized it was his and started following our drone.”

The POW ran from the scene and was confronted by another Russian soldier, but the drone dropped its last grenade, killing him instantly.

His rescue comes as Russia steps up attacks across Ukraine, firing hundreds of missiles of various types and Iranian-supplied ‘Shahed’ drones in the past week.

An attack on the town of Kropyvnytskyi killed one person and damaged two power stations, leading to power outages for civilians.

One of the affected objects was a repair and production facility, Ukraine’s national network operator Ukrenergo said on messaging app Telegram.

“The damage did not cause any disruption to the main grid,” Ukrenergo said.
