War between Israel and Hamas: two Frenchmen among those wounded in car ramming in Ra’anana

Two young French men were injured in a car ramming incident on Monday in Ra’anana, northeast of Tel Aviv, the Quai d’Orsay said in a statement published on its website in the evening.

“France condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack that left at least one person dead and 17 injured, including several children, in Raanana today. Nothing justifies terrorism,” writes Quai d’Orsay. “There are two young compatriots among the victims. The French Consulate General in Tel Aviv is fully mobilized to support our citizens in Ra’anana.” “Nothing justifies terrorism,” the ministry said in a statement, assuring Israel of its “solidarity in this ordeal.”

Six children were hospitalized

The attack killed a woman and injured at least 17 others, emergency services and Israeli police said, adding that they arrested two Palestinian suspects. According to medical services, six children were hospitalized.

Tensions in Israel and the Palestinian territories rose a notch after an unprecedented Hamas attack on October 7 that killed 1,140 people in southern Israel, according to an Agence France-Presse tally based on Israeli officials.

In response, Israel promised to destroy Hamas, which has been in power in the Gaza Strip since 2007. In the Gaza Strip, the conflict has killed more than 24,000 people, mostly women, teenagers and children, according to the latest Hamas Health Ministry report.
