Public Ministry delivers autopsy to family and continues investigation into Piñera’s accident

A multidisciplinary team, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Los Ríos region, in the south of the country, continues investigations into the precise causes of the death on Tuesday of the former president of the Pepper Sebastian Piñerawho died after the helicopter he was piloting crashed over Lake Ranco.

According to the prosecutor of that region, Tatiana Esquivelthe results of the autopsy, which according to the Legal Medical Service (SML) lasted four hours, have already been delivered to the president’s family, and show that the president died due to “asphyxiation by submersion”.

No further details will be provided at the moment, so it does not appear that the two main versions being considered can be clarified: a technical problem resulting from the awful conditions climatologies of the region, with strong wind and rainor some physical problem for the 74-year-old president, which would have caused him to lose control and be unable to take off his seat belt.
