Israel bombs the populous city of Rafah, leaving more than 50 dead

A series of aerial bombings Israel night from Sunday to Monday in the busy city of Rafah, in Gaza stripleft 52 dead, according to a new report from the Hamas Ministry of Health in the territory.

The bombings hit 14 houses and three mosques in different sectors Rafaaccording to the government of Hamas.

The Israeli army said in a statement that “carried out a series of attacks against terrorist targets in the southern Gaza Strip” and that they had already completed.

AFP journalists and witnesses heard an intense series of bombings and they saw smoke over the city, which Home to more than half of Gaza’s total populationdisplaced by the conflict.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahuordered his army to prepare a ground offensive on Rafah, the last city in Gaza where its troops did not enter after the attacks of Hamas of October 7th that triggered the war.

Nearly 1.4 million Palestinians gathered in Rafamany of them living in tents and facing shortages of food, water and medicine.
