Strong explosion at restaurant in northern China leaves at least 2 dead and 26 injured

At least two people died and another 26 were injured this Wednesday in an explosion caused by a gas leak in a restaurant in the Chinese city of Langfang(province of Hebeinorth), very close to Beijingreported local media

Several videos posted on Chinese social media showed a strong explosion followed by a dense column of blue smoke emanating from the crash site, as well as several damaged cars and debris scattered across the ground.

The incident occurred at 07:54 local time (23:54 GMT on Tuesday) in an establishment specializing in fried chicken, allegedly due to a gas leak, and partially destroyed. a four-story buildingreported the state channel CCTV.

About six hours later the fire was extinguished, while residents within a radius of 500 meters from the crime scene explosion were evacuatedaccording to the aforementioned means.

The explosion caused the closure of at least seven companies located nearby due to the damage caused to the facades of several buildings, in addition to that suffered by numerous vehicles that were driving or parking in the area.

In recent years, numerous accidents of this type have occurred in China: one of the most serious occurred last June in Yinchuan (northwest), when another explosion in a restaurant left 31 dead, or in the same month, but in 2022 in Shiyan (center), when another similar incident caused 26 deaths and more than 130 injuries.
