Russia: at least 74 detained during the third day of presidential elections

At least 74 people were arrested on Sunday in Russia during the third day of the presidential elections in which the opposition to the Kremlin called for a vote against the current president, Vladimir Putinwho aspires to revalidate his mandate.

Arrests were made in 17 cities across the country, including Moscowreported the OVD-Info portal, which guarantees the rights of those detained by the police.

At least 19 arrests have been recorded so far in the Russian capital.

A couple, according to OVD-Info, was taken to the police station to buy a scarf with quotes from George Orwellauthor of the novel “1984″.

Another 29 people were arrested in Kazancapital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan.

Many of the detainees participated in the action”Noon against Putin”, appealed for the Russian opposition.
