Attack in Moscow: Zelensky accuses Putin of wanting to “blame” Ukraine

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Saturday accused his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin of seeking to “shift the blame” to Ukraine following a deadly attack on a Moscow concert hall claimed by the Islamic State group.

“What happened yesterday in Moscow is obvious: Putin and the other bastards are simply trying to shift the blame to someone else,” he said in his daily message after Russian officials hypothesized a Ukrainian trail.

“They come to Ukraine, burn our cities and try to blame Ukraine. They torture and rape our people – and blame them. They brought hundreds of thousands of their terrorists here, to Ukrainian lands (…) and they don’t care about what’s happening in their own country,” he complained.

IS claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall on the outskirts of the capital is the deadliest in Russia in the last twenty years, and also the deadliest yet claimed by ISIS in Europe.

However, during a televised speech, Vladimir Putin did not mention the participation of the jihadist group. The President confirmed that “all four perpetrators” of the attack were detained when “they were heading towards Ukraine, where, according to preliminary data (of investigations), window were prepared for them to cross the border.

On Friday, Kiev assured that they had “absolutely nothing to do” with this “terrorist attack.”
