The World Central Kitchen stops operations in Gaza and brings the number of workers killed by Israel to 7

The humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) announced this Tuesday that it is suspending its operations in Linkafter confirming that at least seven of its workers were killed “in an attack by the Defense Forces of Israel”.

“The WCK team traveled in a de-escalation zone in two armored vehicles bearing the logo” of the organization, the group said in a statement.

The attack cost the lives of a humanitarian team made up of a British man, a Polish man, an Australian man and a dual American-Canadian citizen, as well as three Palestiniansaccording to the NGO.

They are believed to be the first foreign aid workers killed in the war. Link since October 7th, and which has claimed more than 32,800 victims, most of them women and children.

He Israeli army reported in a statement “that they are carrying out an exhaustive review at the highest level to understand the circumstances of this tragic incident”, and reiterated that they worked “closely” with WCK – founded by renowned US-based Spanish chef José Andrés – to distribute food and humanitarian aid in Gaza.

The North American NGO participated on March 15th in the arrival at the Link of 200 tons of food and water, inaugurating a maritime corridor aboard the Open Arms ship, and despite calls from the international community and other humanitarian organizations that only the massive arrival of food by land will alleviate an imminent famine in Gaza.
