Putin says Russia has ICMs in service

The Russian Army already has intercontinental hypersonic missiles in service, the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

“Our hypersonic missiles fly at speeds in excess of Mach 20. And they are not only hypersonic, but also intercontinental. It is a very powerful weapon. And they are already in service in Russia”, said the Russian president during his speech at the forum “Russia Energy Week”.

The president pointed out that this type of missile is also being developed in other countries.

“It is not at all strange, all the armies with high technological development will have this type of system soon”, he asserted.

He observed that despite being Russia the first country to create these missiles, even “getting ahead of the main competitors, in this case the US”, Russia has not abused this power and has not threatened anyone.

“What is more, we are willing to talk about the reduction of weapons, and based on the interest of our US partners, take into account the fact that we have systems of this type”, said.

The president called not to stir up tensions, stop “talking for pleasure” and “sit at the dialogue table to start a detailed conversation about it.”

He found that the current US administration “has taken this path”, recalling the agreements reached with his US counterpart, Joe Biden, during the Geneva summit.

However, I note that there is in fact an arms race, for which he blamed Washington.

“Unfortunately the arms race has already started. It started after the US left the agreement on missile defense ”, said.

Putin He recalled that in 2003 he called on the US not to abandon this agreement, which he described as “fundamental” and “the cornerstone of international security.”

“It is not a simple defense, but an attempt to obtain strategic advantages by weakening the nuclear potential of the potential opponent”, explained.

According to the Russian president, there are only two ways to respond to an initiative of this type: “either create an equal system, which costs large amounts of money and it is not known how effective it will be, or create another type of missile that evades the systems of defending”.

“And I said we would do that,” he concluded.
