The surprising surcharge that came on the ticket of a restaurant in Spain: “We had never suffered it”

Diners at a Spanish bar called Imperial, located in the Spanish municipality of Benavente, in the northwest of the country, expressed their bewilderment on social networks due to the unusual surcharge that appeared on the ticket of that gastronomic place.

The complaint, which went viral, had to do with “something curious” related to the service provided by the waiter, which astonished and at the same time filled with anger the visitors of that food place, self-defined as “Gastrobar.”

The unprecedented addition incorporated into the food ticket of this group of Spanish diners was made known, as it happens in these times, through a message on social networks. On Twitter, for more information.

There, under the complaint of a lady from Madrid who protested how expensive the beer had turned out in a bar in the Spanish capital, a message from a user named Blas Galey Hermoso appeared, telling about his experience at the Imperial bar , located in the aforementioned municipality of Benavente, in the Spanish province of Zamora, in the community of Castilla y León.

Galey Hermoso, the outraged diner at the Benavente gastrobar, wrote the following message on November 1: “Something curious happened to us a few days ago in Benavente. Every time the waiter came to the table on the terrace to bring something – beer, tapas … – he charged us 20 cents ”.

Indeed, Galey Hermoso’s tweet was accompanied by proof of what he was telling: the Imperial bar ticket. There, it was recorded, under the item “Terrace service” that, in effect, they had been charged every time the waiter had attended said atmosphere of the premises. In total, they were four times, so the amount of that particular service amounted to 80 euro cents. About 3 soles and 72 cents.

In the Imperial bar bill, the item appears four times.

But the message from Benavente’s stunned diner did not end there, as he also added that he had been charged for another incredible issue. “The last straw was the euro that he charged us for putting some cutlery to cut a toast that we had asked for.”

Indeed, in the ticket exposed in the Twitter publication, “Covered service” appears among the expenses of the account, and this corresponds to the sum of one euro. As of today, in Argentina, that would be around 116 pesos. Just for a place setting.

After writing this tweet, Galey Hermoso received some responses, apparently from bar owners, who told him that these are services that make money for the owner of the place. “Everything in the bar makes money. Until the time, “wrote a Twitter user, in that sense.

Then, the man who had complained about the unusual “terrace service” wrote: “I repeat that everyone in their business can do – and charge – whatever they want. It’s free. Like customers, they have the freedom to choose. I have simply commented that it seemed curious to us, because until now we had not ‘suffered’ it in our flesh ”.

Later, to close any type of discussion with other users, Galey Hermoso declared: “I repeat: I just wanted to expose the fact, new to us, of charging us for the terrace service every time the waiter brought us something to the table.”
