FARC dissidents assassinate two policemen in central Colombia

The governor of the department Colombian del Meta (center), Juan Guillermo Zuluaga, denounced this Tuesday that the dissidents of the FARC They assassinated two policemen who provided surveillance and control tasks in the town of Lejanías.

“I have just received terrible news, in the municipality of Lejanías, they murdered two of our policemen. The FARC dissidents are blaming themselves for the fact, ”Zuluaga wrote on Twitter.

The president added that a device was immediately deployed together with the local authorities to capture the murderers and “act with all force against these criminals.”

The director of the Colombian Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas, condemned the incident and assured that the 31-year-old patrolman Hermes Mora had two children, one four years old and the other seven.

The other patrolman, José Rivera, was with the police for 17 years. He is survived by his children Salomé and Sebastián.

He explained that the policemen were attacked by four men when “they were in the vicinity of the main park” in Lejanías.

The high official added that the authorities offer a reward of up to 100 million pesos (about $ 25,000) to those who help identify the material and intellectual authors of the two murders.
