Wall Street opens in green and the Dow Jones rises a slight 0.39%

Wall Street opened this Tuesday in green and the Dow Jones Industrials, its main indicator, gained 0.39%, thus breaking the trend on Monday, when it closed in red.

Ten minutes after the start of operations on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones rose to 33,846 units and the selective S&P 500 added 0.41%, up to 4,346 points.

For its part, the composite index of the Nasdaq market, in which the main technology companies are listed, rose 0.49%, to 13,400 integers.

The close on Friday the 30th will mark the end of the second quarter and the first half of 2023.

Despite yesterday’s losses, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq are still on track to close June with more than 3% gains, while the Dow is poised for a monthly advance of nearly 2.5%.

Additionally, the Nasdaq has gained more than 9% in the quarter and is on track for its best first half in 40 years.

By sectors, the greatest gains were for non-essential goods and technology, which rose 0.83% and 0.76%, respectively, while the only losses were for sanitation, energy and communications, which remained 0.22%, 0.54% and 0.12%, respectively.

Among the 30 Dow Jones stocks, the biggest losers were Walgreens (-9.09%) – which reported weaker-than-expected quarterly results and cut its full-year earnings guidance – and 3M (-0.59% ), while the biggest gains were for Microsoft (1.18%) and McDonald’s (1.18).
