Patricia Barreto: “Love is not a purpose and living as a couple does not have to be”

Although he believes in love, it is not his goal in life. Patricia Barrett interprets in “don’t call me spinster 2″ to a young and independent woman, but with an overprotective mother who believes in marriage as the only way to be happy and successful. This year, the actress returns to the big screen with the sequel to the comedy Ani Alva Helfer and ensures that the second part of the film “completely surpasses the first”, as he commented in an interview with this newspaper.

Barreto performs alongside Andre Silva, who is a supporting actor in the first film and a protagonist in the second part. “We respect each other a lot. He is a great partner. We have the same code, we are theater people. He is very noble, he accepts the game very much. From the few conversations we have had, I notice that André is a very mature guy, he is clear about the goals he wants and is quite competent with what he thinks. As for the character, it is different from him. He is a gentleman, more serious and structured, from what little I know him. Instead, his character is… Wah! oh! Different, more sprinkled”, comments the actress, with whom the actor from the telenovela “Luz de luna” sang in a crossover scene of the series that Barreto also stars on television, “Maricucha”.

Self-love

Both theater and television actors play Patricia and José in “don’t call me spinster 2″, two characters that transform the second part of the story of the Big Bag Films production company, as a romance is born between them. However, marriage is not as important as the desire to excel and self-esteem, just like in the first film. Thus, the film zooms in on the theme of women’s empowerment and personal growth.

“We are unlearning a bit that education that for time was a flaw to be able to bond with each other; rather, it divided us. We have to move forward. I feel that, as the world is changing, so are the demands. It’s good to have new information about who you are and what your purpose is in this world”, says the actress about the taboos that exist in Peruvian society and around which the script’s romances revolve. “If your purpose is not to complete the checks of an agenda, good. Like many people… Love is not a purpose and living as a couple does not have to be. Suddenly, it will be another. It is irrelevant to think that there is only one lifestyle that leads to success”.

Netflix

don’t call me spinster 2″ took two years to reach theaters, due to the pandemic. “A lot of emotion for people to bet on Peruvian movie theaters and go out again. Because every time they bet on Peruvian cinema, we are improving our quality as audiovisuals. And also abroad. For them to see new, different projects”, commented Barreto, who also added that he aims to work with Netflix.

Barreto shines with pride when he sees “Don’t call me spinster 1” available on Netflix, but is also grateful that there are projects of the brand with the Peruvian seal. Two examples are Bruno Ascenso’s film “Until we meet again” and the next series “with you captain” about a difficult episode in the life of Paolo Guerrero. “We are fortunate that a great production company has Peru in its sights to be able to not only show our country, but also new stories”, he added.
