In order to promote the defense of freedom in the media, the Vargas Llosa Chair and the Atlas Network Foundation Launch the First Prize for Young Journalism; initiative endowed with US $ 10,000 for the winner.

The award was announced during the most recent edition of the Libertad Forum, organized by Atlas Network, a non-profit organization that seeks to give people opportunities for development without going through persecution or coercion.
