The New York singer of Dominican origin Prince Royce He feels “proud” to be part of the growth of bachata worldwide, amid the rise of other genres such as reggaeton or regional Mexican music, as he said this Tuesday when announcing his ‘Llamada Perdida World Tour’ in Mexico.

“Bachata has grown so much throughout the world (that) for me it is a pride, an honor to know that I have been part of the growth process (of the genre)”said the musician during a press conference in Mexico City.

Royce, who is promoting the first album he publishes after the covid-19 pandemic, pointed out that accompanying artists such as the Colombian Shakira or the Mexican band Maná, or listening to the Colombian Manuel Turizo or the Spanish Rosalía singing bachata for the first time realizes of the good moment that the genre is experiencing.

“I think it has been an honor for me to see that my colleagues from different countries have contributed to bachata and I think bachata is in a good moment”explained the one also known as ‘Prince of Bachata’.

He noted that he would like to take this rhythm further by bringing artists like the Canadian Justin Bieber to sing this genre.

“That’s what I like, being able to fuse different genres, voices and rhythms, instruments. “It’s really what I enjoy, so I hope to continue collaborating not only (with) Mexicans, but people from around the world to continue fusing the genre,” accurate.

Tour of Mexico

The New Yorker visited Mexico to promote his tour, which will begin on June 26 in the southeast of Mexico and will end on July 13 in the border Tijuana. He pointed out that in his presentations he will seek to please his fans with his new album and previous hits.

The performer is one of the most established Latin artists of the genre with 21 Billboard awards and nine nominations for the Latin Grammy Awards, so he assured that his main objective is to share with his followers, dance bachata and enjoy.

“(Each concert) I see it as thanking the public for what they have done for me. It is a celebration, sharing with them, dancing bachata, enjoying. “So, like I said, every tour for me is how I can do it to share with those people,” he emphasized.
