Bruce Springsteen sold his entire catalog to Sony Music for $ 500 million

After Bob Dylan or David Guetta, it is the turn of another heavyweight in music to resell his entire work. According to the BBC, Bruce Springsteen has indeed ceded the rights to all of his 20 studio albums to Sony, including absolute masterpieces of music such as Nebraska, Born to Run, or The River.

The deal amount was not specified, but several sources say it was $ 500 million, which would make it the most expensive rights transfer deal ever (for comparison, the one Bob Dylan had been valued at $ 300 million). For the moment, no official announcement has been made.

His whole career

The contract therefore allows Bruce Springsteen and his heirs not to have to worry about their finances for several generations, and Sony Music, who has collaborated with the artist throughout his career (he is signed at Columbia, one of the Sony labels) to ensure its back. Since his debut, Bruce Springsteen has sold over 150 million records and garnered no less than 20 Grammy Awards.

The BBC does not say whether the contract states that Sony also owns the rights to its upcoming albums. Bruce Springsteen continues to be prolific. His last two albums to date, Western Stars and Letter to You, were released in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
